Things To Do In Margaret River

When visiting the South West, no one can ever complain of not finding enough things to do in Margaret River. This wine region is a must-visit place if you are planning to come to Australia. Hugely popular with both the locals and international tourists, Margaret River has everything you need for a great holiday. With its dramatic caves, world class wineries and amazing surfing spots, the area appeals to a wide range of travelers. With so much to see and do, don’t be surprised if you initially plan a short stay but in the end, stay here for a lot longer than expected. To help you plan your itinerary, here is a list of some of the best things to do in Margaret River:

Wineries: Producing about one fourth of Australia’s premium wines, Margaret River is home to a huge range of outstanding wineries and of course, this means plenty of wine tastings for anyone looking for things to do in Margaret River. As the vineyards are spread all over the region, you will need a car to access them. The best way to see some of them is to book a tour, either a full day or a half day one. These usually include trips to a few vineyards along with a delicious gourmet lunch.

Dining and nightlife: In Margaret River, you will find all the food you could possibly want from fresh seafood to delicious home-produced chocolate, cheese and fudge. There are plenty of great restaurants to choose from and if you want to party, the town has several good places where you can head to on the weekends for a top night out. If you prefer to be somewhere quiet, some brilliant wine bars can also be found.

A visit to Caves Road: This is a must-visit place for those searching for things to do in Margaret River. Here, you will find dozens of magical caves and stretches of some beautiful sandy beaches. Only some of the caves are open for the public, with Mammoth Cave being the most popular one. This limestone cave is where you can see remains of a lot of the country’s animals-something the kids will love.

Surfing: Famous for its brilliant surfing spots, the region attracts loads of surfers every year for the Margaret River Drug Aware Pro and International Salomon Masters Competition. Although the best time to surf is in spring and winter, the surf is pretty good all year round. If you visit Boranup, you will see camper vans with surfers and surf boards every day waiting to catch a wave. Other spots include Redgate, previously known as Surfers Point, which is for experienced surfers, while Yallingup is where you will find all the sunbathers and swimmers.

These are just some of the things to do in Margaret River. There’s plenty more and if you are looking for a good time, be sure to stop over in this region on your next visit to the South West.
