One of the biggest premium wine establishments in Margaret River, Wulura began operations in 1998 with an aim of planting vine and olive trees to match the large herd of Murray Grey cattle, thus making this farm estate one of the region’s most diversified and unique establishments.
Grapes produced at Wulura are the outcome of some very strict viticultural practices to ensure the highest possible quality of wines. Several varieties of wines are produced at the estate including Cabernet Shiraz, Merlot and Chardonnay.
In addition to wines, the olive trees raised with great love and care at Wulura produce extra virgin olive oil of excellent quality. The sun ripened fruits are hand harvested and it is ensured that the olives are processed as well as pressed into oil within twenty four hours. What this means is that the oils come straight from trees to the bottle to you and don’t contain any addictives, so that you get the ultimate in purity and freshness. The extra virgin olive oil made by Wulura can be used for cooking; in muffins/cakes or as a perfect salad dressing. Besides, you can sprinkle it on just about anything you like.
Regardless of whether it is olive oil or wine, precision and perfection have become trademarks of Wulura. This detailed approach is reflected in the superb quality of the products.
The term “Wulura” is a blend of two Aboriginal words—“wulu” that means to keep and “ra” that means forever. Thus, the meaning of Wulura is “to keep forever”, which reflects a love for the land which is ever lasting. Wulura isn’t just the name of the vineyard, oil grove and farm, but also represents the brand name of the wines and extra virgin olive oils produced at the estate.
