Winery Ranked Among WA’s Best

A winemaker from 3 Oceans Winery in Margaret River has received three awards for his skill at the recently held Perth Royal Wine Show.

The news article “Winery Named Among the State’s Best” has full details on this story. It says, “Jonathan Mettam, a winemaker at 3 Oceans Winery, produced the 2012 Explorers Chardonnay which won the WA Wine of Show trophy and the 2012 Grace Farm Cabernet Sauvignon which won the trophy for best Cabernet Sauvignon of show.” http://www.margaretrivermail.com.au/story/1812511/winery-named-among-the-states-best/?cs=1429

Jonathan said that 3 Oceans also received the top gold in its class for the River Ros 2013 and a gold medal for the Estates Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2012.

“It is a remarkable achievement that the two trophies for the chardonnay and the cabernet were made from the same facility, given the reputation these two varieties hold within the Margaret River region and also given their standing at a national and international level,” he said.

“It is also an outstanding start for both these new wine brands, who are relative newcomers to the wine industry.”

Jonathan said that he was thrilled to have enjoyed so much success across all ranges and attributed the achievement to the hard work of the cellar crew and uncompromised excellence in the vineyard.

He praised the devotion in particular of Tim Quinlan of Grace Farm and 3 Ocean’s Kylie Stubbs and Ryan Brennan.

“And of course the cellarhands take it off their hands and are responsible for nursing it through the process to bottling.

“It is a testament to all their hard work and dedication and a great testament to the region.”
