Victory For Margs Boardriders Club

Margaret River Boardriders Club on Saturday ended a six-year dearth to win the coveted Surf Boardroom Surf League against arch-opponent Trigg Point Boardriders Club.

The news article “Win after six years” has all the information you need about Surf Boardroom Surf League. It says the following: “With six surfers each, eight of the state’s most-established board riders clubs competed at Scarborough Beach in a series of 80-minute heats. Dubbed ‘the Dream Team’, Team Margs surfed a faultless final with each surfer averaging seven out of 10 for each wave. They scored a 98-point total to defeat Trigg Point by 10 points, as well as Yallingup and Geraldton Boardriders Clubs respectively.”

Margaret River’s Matt Baldock was the top performer on the day, claiming the prestigious Perry Hatchett medal for the most impressive performer in the final and the highest two-wave total.

Team member Jethro Hedstrom noted, “Matt and I have been doing this competition for seven years,” before adding, “We won the first year we competed but have had six years of close calls and the team made errors in the finals so many times. I’m so stoked we have finally pulled it together and got the win.”

Jethro and Matt were accompanied by local surfers Josh Burke (Junior), Jerome Forrest, Creed McTaggart (Double Whammy) and Tom Innes (Senior). Captain Andrew Sheridan led the team, with coach Brett Hardy and mascots Bree Hastie and Jaxon Chadwick playing the support role.

The next competition on the club’s calendar is the Margaret Rive Classic, open to competitors worldwide on November 02nd – 04th.
