It is official, the Margaret River wine region can produce some of the worlds very best wines. Cullen Wines of Margaret River have won The Decanter World Wine Awards 2010 for the best Chardonnay in the world. Cullen wines beat hundreds of entrants in to this category from around the world, over $18, to win the decanter for their 2007 Kevin John Chardonnay.
“Decanter’s team of expert judges described the 2007 Cullen Kevin John as having ‘Flavours of lemon, grapefruit and peaches bisected by lovely acidity and beautiful minerality with very good complexity. Incisive and exciting.’” quoted from Aus Food News
I think this is great news for Cullen wines who are passionate about their wine and growing their vines in a biodynamic system. I also firmly believe that this helps cement Margaret River as a premier wine destination in the world. The region is only just being discovered (not only a toursist destination or an amazing place to live) and the Margaret River winereies just get better and better.
