Surfing Dinner At MUST

Some of south west’s finest chefs will join hands for a SurfAid charity dinner- with a surf theme. All proceeds from the event will be used to support SurfAid‘s work in the Mentawai Islands in Indonesia.

The concept of SurfAid Surfing Chefs was created last year by Russell Blaikie, owner/chef at Must Margaret River, and the inaugural dinner raised $26,000.

The news article “Surfing chefs at Must” has full details on this story. It says: “Former world surfing champion Martin Potter will be teaming up with Russell, Aaron Carr of Vasse Felix, Dany Angove of Leeuwin Estate, Hay Shed Hill’s Jake Drachenberg and Cape Lodge’s Tony Howell.” http://www.margaretrivermail.com.au/story/376616/surfing-chefs-at-must/?cs=1429

Russell said when he first created the concept he never thought it would grab the attention of chefs, who frequently surf across Australia.

“I’m so excited to get the same WA crew together in the line-up for Surfing Chefs Margaret River – Aaron, Dany, Jake and Tony. These guys are at the top of their game in Margaret River and they are so excited that 1989 ASP world surfing champion Martin Potter is coming to cook with them,” said Russell.

He further noted, “While the food served at last year’s event was awesome, it was exceeded by the generosity of the guests, who raised $26,000 for the SurfAid cause. It’s a sign of the connection between the Margaret River region, the surfing community and the beneficiaries of SurfAid’s work in the Mentawai Islands off Sumatra.”

Must Margaret River will host the dinner on Thursday, 18th of October. Tickets are priced at $150 and include 5-course dinner and wines. Arrival is 6.30 pm for drinks with canapés at 7.30 pm. For bookings please visit www.surfaid.org/events.

The event is proudly sponsored by Howard Park Wines, Farmhouse Margaret River: Big Red Pork & Arkady Lamb, One Sea Rottnest Island Scallops WA, The Garden Basket, Bahen & Co. Chocolate and Margaret River Fresh Eggs.
