Press Release – Wine With Regional Influences

Wilyabrup Sub-regional wine tasting held over the weekend at Cowaramup Hall brought back the memories of the Margaret River Subregional Tasting hosted by Moss Woods and Cullen in 1999.

It was based on the work of Dr. John Gladstones who proposed that Margaret River could be divided into six “sub-regions”, depending on their distinct topography, natural water catchments and micro-climates.

The focus of the tasting was on the Wilyabrup sub-region.

Organisers Cullen, Moss Wood, Fraser Gallip and Woodlands asked producers to provide wine samples made exclusively from Wilyabrup fruit from 2013, 2012 and 2011 vintages.

Among those who attended the event were Dr Gladstones, Nick Stock, James Halliday, Peter Bourne, Peter Forrestal, John Jens, Francois Reijasse and Daniel Wegener.

Guests enjoyed a retrospective tasting of Cullen, Moss Wood, Fraser Gallip and Woodlands at Cullen Winery on the Sunday morning. It was a very unusual presentation of vintages from 1983 to 2010.
