Oprah in Margaret River – TV show guests introduce millions of Americans to the region

The Oprah juggernaut has made its way to the Margaret River region in yet another boost to the region’s tourism industry. Although Oprah did not make it herself, two of her American guests were chosen from the total of 300 who arrived on the “Oprah Winfrey Ultimate Australia Adventure” to visit Western Australia and profile the area as a special section of “Oprah” in Margaret River.

Michelle and Dewayne Bryan arrived for a luxurious dinner at Leeuwin Estate on Friday but unfortunately their itinerary, which included the Josh Palmateer Surf Academy and the Margaret River Chocolate Company, had to be cut short because of Mr Bryan’s health.

Nevertheless, the trip was a great success and the film crew travelling with them made sure the entire trip was documented for the millions who would see Oprah’s Australia trip broadcast on her show. They did manage to visit Perth, Fremantle, Rottnest and Cottesloe and Tourism WA was thrilled at the opportunity to profile the state to the world.

Leeuwin Estate marketing manager Simon Furlong said “The film crew and photographer captured some wonderful vision of their visit that will showcase the essence of Margaret River in terms of our magnificent scenery, food and wine.” It is anticipated that this will contribute to the two Australian shows that Oprah is said to be filming here in January.

Oprah in Margaret River is undoubtedly going to provide a significant boost for tourism in the region, particularly because Tourism WA is also running adjacent promotional campaigns alongside the visit in the US. They are highlighting the stunning beaches, gourmet food and wineries producing some of the best wines in the world. With tourism in the region starting to be affected by the world economic downturn, Oprah in Margaret River is a great opportunity to make Margaret River shine.
