Margaret River Chocolate Had Mouths Watering At Perth Show

The Margaret River Chocolate Co. enjoyed sweet success at the Perth Royal Show 2012’s chocolate competition, with four silver and seven gold medals. The company’s newly-introduced sea-salted caramel truffle, renowned Irish cream truffle and a number of flavoured gourmet bars including mint, macadamia, orange and fruit and nut won gold medals. Among the silver was gourmet truffle selection box, redgum honey crunch, praline hearts and dark cherry delights.

School Hosts Arts Festival

Margaret River Senior High School held their two-day annual Arts Festival at Margaret River Cultural Centre last week. Audiences enjoyed complimentary food, drama and music performances, in addition to artwork presented by over 150 contributing students. Some of the highlights of the festival included the Kyoto dance presented by upper students, a hilarious monologue on speed dating and an eerie band of hooded cloak artists singing O’Fortuna.

Trail Runners’ Push For Fitness

The newly established Margaret River Trail Runners Club has invited plodders, joggers and runners to join them for laidback jogs around the wonderful Margaret River countryside on Saturday mornings. Lisa Miller, the president of the club, said that the aim of the group was to encourage people with different levels of fitness to enjoy morning runs with like-minded members of the local community. Awards Night

Presentation night held at the footy club last Saturday drew a number of Hawks from Year 9 awarded for their performance during the year. Sam Monkhouse was the winner of Fairest & Best, with Joel Coleman being runner-up; Joal Maylor won Most Improved; Mailangi Muller took the award for Best Utility; Jake Rogers won Most Consistent whereas Flynn Armstrong and Keelen Radice won coaches awards.

Shire Ranger Team Best In WA

The Augusta Margaret River Shire Rangers can take pride in being the finest in the state after receiving Team of the Year award at the annual WA Rangers Association conference in Perth last Thursday. The crew was awarded for showing exceptional teamwork, which was beneficial to the local community. Manager Community Development Paul Gravett praised his team consisting of Alison Scott, Gavin Jennion, Peter Fagan, Belinda Biddle and support officer Tina Berridge for their achievement.

Fun Run At Margaret River Primary School

Margaret River Primary School held their annual cross country fun run last Friday. The event was followed by an exciting afternoon of activities and games, and live performances by the school’s band. The students will be defending their title in the Interschool Cross Country Carnival this Friday at Gloucester Park. Races will start at 10.00 am and guests are welcome.
