Fundraising Initiative For Cancer Victims
Fundraising initiatives for cancer victims will continue over the weekend as the Courageous Carebears and Funky Feel Good Fairies host a fundraiser at Riverfresh IGA. Led by cancer survivor Joy Elliott, the group is holding the event as part of a number of fundraising initiatives held all year round. Between 8am and 2pm on Saturday, the Courageous Carebears and Funky Feel Good Fairies will be at the IGA with mystery prizes, raffles and gifts and prizes donated by local businesses. Skate Park Opening Draws Large Crowds
The Cowaramup Skate Park officially inaugurated on Sunday with skate demonstrations, competitions and live music entertainment mesmerising visitors throughout the afternoon. The new park is a joint initiative of the Augusta Margaret River Shire, Department of Sports & Recreation and Cowaramup Lions. Hundreds of scooters and skaters of all ages and abilities took to the bowls, boxes and ramps of the park to celebrate the opening.

Optamus To Grace Settlers Tavern
This Saturday night at Settlers Tavern in Margaret River will be a memorable one. WA-born musicians Optamus are excited to showcase their natural blend of hip-hop, soul and blues with traces of contemporary electronic beats. Local Businessmen Join Hands To Promote Region
A trio of local businessmen have joined forces to re-engage tourism businesses in promoting the Margaret River region with the publication of a high-quality marketing book. Over the last 12 months, Sam Oliver and Patrick Matan, owners of local boutique Sugar Man, together with designer James Davies, have been busy developing the concept of a book entitled ‘The Ropes” that will focus on marketing the wine, food, beer, accommodation and entertainment in the region. Orchids A Treat To Watch
A burst of fragrance and colour greeted orchid enthusiasts who attended the Margaret River Orchid Society Show 2013 held at Watershed Winery over the weekend. The show hosted over 200 floral displays by orchid lovers from across the south west region. Society member Bernadette Campbell said that guests had been filling the display area throughout the weekend and the show was a great success for everyone involved.

Gralyn Estate Wins Multiple Awards
Gralyn Estate of Margaret River performed superbly at the recent Boutique Wine Awards held in Sydney. The winery took home four awards including the Max Lake Memorial Chardonnay Trophy and the White Wine of Show Trophy for their Reserve Chardonnay 2012, Wildberry Springs, and the Chris Killeen Memorial Trophy and the Dan Murphy Wine of Show for their fortified wine, Artizan. Gralyn’s owners Graham and Merilyn Hutton said they were “very excited” about their success.
