Service Main Focus Ahead Of Gourmet Escape
Tourism WA has kicked off a campaign to improve customer service ahead of the Margaret River Gourmet Escape. Evan Hall, chief executive officer at Tourism Council WA, said that the council would work in conjunction with operators to improve customer service in the region ahead of the event. “We can’t just rely on good beaches and great wine. We must lift service standards to attract new tourists and win back repeat visitors,” said Mr. Hall. A workshop will be conducted in Margaret River on November 13. For details, visit
Invitation To Yoga Friends
Whether you are a veteran yoga practitioner or a complete beginner, the World’s Longest Yoga Chain over the weekend will have something for everyone. People are being urged to gather at Margaret River’s Reuther Park on Sunday, 10am and try to set a world record for the highest number of people practicing yoga at the same time. But the event won’t just be held in Margaret River. Originating from Eastern Australia, the World’s Longest Yoga Chain combines numbers from similar events held nationwide at the same time. Doris Is ‘Queen Of Scones’
Those entering scones in the upcoming Margaret River and Districts Agricultural Show will take on local Doris Arthur a.k.a the ‘queen of scones’. The 88-year old has been winning for many consecutive years and is the envy of many scone makers. When asked how many contests she had won, Doris said that it was hard to count but she had been doing superbly for “many years”. Local Acts Added To Southbound Lineup
Acts for 2013 Southbound Festival’s Coconut Club were unveiled this week with a few local talents in the lineup. Local DJs Mandy Bubb and Boston Switch will perform alongside L.C.Drums. They will be joined by Tyler Touche (QLD), Purple Sneakers DJs (NSW), Anna Lunoe (NSW), Sosueme DJs (NSW), Charlie Bucket, Frankie Button, DJ Swami Adima, The Housejunkie, Slumberjack, Pussy Shoogah and Mutchy & LZ. Southbound will take place at Sir Stewart Bovell Park, Busselton on January 03-04.
Tennis Pro Concludes With Special Event
Sponsors and fans of the Margaret River International Tennis Pro had fun at a special social event during the semi finals last Friday. With nibbles and drinks on hand, guests chatted while enjoying the women’s doubles match at Margaret River Tennis Club. They also had the opportunity to view the two trophies, which were a property of the Australian Open and were brought here for the first time from Melbourne by Tennis Australia.
Rocktober Popular With Local Youth
Over 100 local youngsters enjoyed live entertainment by talented bands at the Rocktober youth night last Thursday. The social event featured local bands including Honeymaker, Tartarus, Laneway, Eden Project and The Inside Room. For some bands it was their debut show, and all of them were well received by the audiences. An initiative of Margaret River Youth Advisory Council, the event was held with an aim of promoting a healthy, alcohol and drug-free lifestyle.
