Merito To Play In Margaret River

Perth-based band Merito is coming back to play in Margaret River over the weekend with a fresh mix of tracks to display their talents in reggae, rock, soul and roots music. The band has been very busy working on new songs for their third album, which is due to be released this year. You can catch them perform live on Saturday at Settlers Tavern and on Sunday at Caves House.

Bestselling Author Coming To Town

Bestselling kids’ author Andy Griffiths will be coming to Margaret River for Behind the Label kids’ literature festival 2013 and local students year 1-7 will be assisted to participate thanks to a donation of $3500 from Rotary Club of Margaret River. Behind the Label is shifting to the Margaret River Cultural Centre this year and the format will change to feature one author, as opposed to three presenters conducting separate sessions.

Cowaramup Lions Auction A Huge Hit

Wonderful conditions attracted a huge crowd last Saturday to Cowaramup Lions Club’s yearly monster auction held at the town oval. They were all keen to place their bids on items ranging from farm machinery and household items to firewood and haybales. Everyone enjoyed a great social day out with food and drinks. All proceeds from the event went to the John of God Hospital.

Augusta Artists Expanding Their Reach

Augusta Art Club is bringing a selection of its artworks to Margaret River. The pieces will be on display at the Arts Margaret River Foyer Gallery, Wallcliffe Rd, until March 28th. The club’s members are hoping that the exhibition will help create a better awareness of their work. It may possibly inspire a trip to Augusta for the Annual Augusta Art Club Exhibition & Sale next January.

Launch Of Business Security Project

The Margaret River Business Security Project was commenced last Friday at the Augusta-Margaret River Shire Civic Centre, hosted by local police. The project has been designed to establish rapport with local businesses and offer safety information on protecting property, staff and profits. Police are in the process of developing a system that will make it possible to alert business owners and employees on recent crime trends and provide other useful information to prevent crime.

Event To Mark Margaret River’s Centenary

A Centenary Celebration event is being held this Sunday to mark 100 years of the Margaret River township. The event, taking place on the ground between the Cultural Centre and Augusta Margaret River Shire Administration Centre from 3pm to 6pm, will feature live music, kids’ entertainment and activities to keep people of all ages and interests entertained. Everybody is invited to join the celebration.
