Dates Announced For Margaret River Gourmet Escape 2013
Following an incredibly successful launch last year, dates have been announced for the Margaret River Gourmet Escape 2013. The wine and food extravaganza will run from Fri, November 22nd until Sun, November 24th. This year’s festival is sure to be bigger and better with an exciting line up of wine and food personalities and events featuring the best of what Margaret River and Western Australia have to offer.
King Steals Leeuwin Show
Looking relaxed and confident, Carole King was the undoubted queen at the 29th Leeuwin Concert Series last Saturday and Sunday, with most of the listeners up on their feet during Saturday’s show. She played some of her most famous songs from a lifetime of incredibly successful performing and songwriting, mesmerising the listeners especially with You’ve Got a Friend, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow and I Feel the Earth Move Under My Feet.
Drift’s Margs Premiere
Surfing movie “Drift” will premiere at Caves House in Yallingup on Thursday, March 21st to coincide with the Margaret River Pro. The movie, some of which was shot in Margaret River and featured local surfers and extras, will be screened for over 1000 people in a red carpet event in the gardens of Caves House. Drift is inspired by the real story of Australia’s celebrated surf communities and the evolution of global surf brands in the 1960’s and 1970’s.
BMX Sessions Return
Margaret River BMX sessions are back by demand, taking place at the BMX club on Fridays 5.30 pm. Kids 2-10 years old are invited to come along and have fun cycling around the track. They will have to bring their own bikes and wear long-sleeved t-shirts and long pants. Those interested in attending the sessions can call 9274 1556 or register on the spot
Lions Ladies Night Expected To Be A Huge Success
Ladies looking for bargains should mark their calendars for Tuesday, February 19th, for the Ladies night to be held at the Lions Shed, Burton Road. Organised by the Ladies of Lions Club Margaret River, the event will offer visitors the opportunity to shop in the shed with their friends. Emergency At Augusta Air Strip
Fire crew managed to put out a suspicious blaze that began south of Augusta Air Strip last Thursday. The fire was reported at about 1.00 am and around eight hectares were burnt. The Rails to Trails Track between the airport and Leeuwin Road remained closed until Saturday morning. The cause of the blaze is unknown. Anyone with information is requested to contact Police Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
