Moreover, each of the contenders will be entitled to the West Australian Regional Newspaper Special Category Awards that include Cultural Award, Heritage Award, Management and Staff Training Award, Website Development Award, Community Relations Award, Special Events Award and Environmental Award.

The judges will award the GWN7 Top Tourism Award 2012 with a population of below 5,000, in addition to the Vanguard Press Judges Award and the RAC Travel Services Business Planning and Marketing Award.

Currently in their 23rd year of handing out the awards, the GWN7 and VCAWA are very proud to be once again identifying the significance of the Tourism Industry and Visitor Centres in WA.

Gabrielle Ausden, the chairman of the panel of judges, said that the judges had been quite impressed with the very high quality and standard of this year’s submissions. “It is clear that many of the entrants have taken on board feedback provided in previous years and this really shone through in the quality of the submissions in 2012. This process has reinforced for the judging panel, the diverse range of Tourism opportunities that WA has to offer and we can’t wait to visit the finalists to experience our extraordinary State,” he said.

The judges will visit the site of each one of the six finalists of the GWN7 Top Tourism Award 2012 and GWN7 will provide the winner of the award with an airtime package worth $25,000 to support their overall marketing initiatives to draw tourists to the region.

The winners will be announced during the GWN7 Top Tourism Award Gala Dinner in Mandurah on Thursday September 20th, which constitutes part of the Annual Visitor Servicing Conference.

A not-for-profit peak industry organisation, the Visitor Centre Association represents over 102 Visitor Centres in addition to sub-representing around 4,500 tourism related businesses across the state.
