Preparations Underway For Biggest Morning Tea

Preparations are underway at local venues as Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea Cancer Council Fundraiser draws near. Tickets are up for grabs for Cowaramup’s morning tea to be held at Cowaramup District Social Club on Thu, May 23rd.

The news article “Biggest Morning Tea grows in strength” has full information on Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea Cancer Council Fundraiser. It says: “The first event in 2009, organised in under three weeks raised $7000, with 90 guests squeezed into a local cafe. It has grown steadily and last year raised $27,000 with 190 guests in attendance. To date $80,000 has been raised. The money assists the Cancer Council’s research and supports to those suffering from cancer.” http://www.margaretrivermail.com.au/story/1484029/biggest-morning-tea-grows-in-strength/?cs=1807

Deborah Earl, one of the organisers of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea Cancer Council Fundraiser, said, “I am always amazed by the generosity of local businesses and community members [in Cowaramup and Margaret River] who donate goods and services to help raise funds, as well as the generosity of guests.”

Deborah further noted, “Organising this event really alerts me to the fact that so many people in the community are affected by cancer at some stage. If not themselves, but a loved one.”

“This is a great cause, and I would like to put the challenge out to the community this year to get behind the event, and help push the total figure to over $100000,” she added.

Local businesses have once again been very generous with their donations of prizes for raffles, giveaways and auctions.

The theme for this year is Vintage High Tea with the tea supplied by The Herbal Emporium, coffee by Yahava and food by Cape Lodge, Edible Art, Watershed, Xanadu and Leeuwin Estate.

If you want to make a donation or purchase a ticket, email Deborah at dearl@westnet.com.au.

Voyager Estate will also be hosting a morning tea on Tue, May 21st from 10 am to noon, with all proceeds going to the Cancer Council. Price is $25 per head and the event will feature coffee and tea, scones, cakes, finger sandwiches as well as prizes. To book your place, please call 9757 6354.

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is the most famous fundraising event of the Cancer Council Australia and the most successful, largest event of its kind in the country.
