New Businesses In Town

Margaret River recently welcomed two new businesses with local designer label Valentina Rose and Mediterranean inspired restaurant Pentimento setting up shop on the main street.

The news article “New businesses on the block” has full details on these new ventures. It says the following about Pentimento: “With tapas, mains and dessert on the menu, and an impressive cocktail list featuring chilli mango margheritas and jugs of sangria, Pentimento is set to be a popular spot for after work drinks and nibbles as well as sit-down meals.” http://www.margaretrivermail.com.au/story/1239194/new-businesses-on-the-block/?cs=1429

Pentimento began operation on December 30th, next to Sails Too, the former site of The Spaghetti Bowl.

Ryan Earle, who is running the restaurant alongside Ronald De Ruijter, said that they had refurbished the place with the aim of lightening it up.

“We started the cocktail menu up last night,” Earle said last week, before adding, “I think people like a lot of choice.”

Pentimento also offers wines from small scale local wineries and imported Italian and Spanish wines and beers.

Earle said that the restaurant catered to people aged 22-72, and families with kids would also appreciate the wide open space and cuisine with prices varying from $6-60.

“Hang in here and just go for it,” said manager Shae Dillon.

In the meantime, Valentina Rose opened next door to Margaret River Fudge Factory on January 08th, offering accessories and clothing from local brands Nautical James and Valentina Rose.

The handmade goods are designed by Jaime Bowers, Melissa D’Ath and Valentina¬†Gasperini who run the business.

“It’s a women’s business,” joked Valentina.

She said that they made every effort to use natural materials only for the “boho chic meets nautical cool” varieties, and strived to keep the rates as low as possible.

Plain racks line the walls of the store whereas white shelves are stocked with colourful leather wallets and bags.

Speaking of the store’s design, Valentina said, “I really like the minimalist look. I find some places are too crowded.”

Jaime said that the three ladies designed the entire stock, with no mass made goods available in the store.

“It’s a fashion label, not a shop,” she said.

Varying in sizes from XS to XL and some XXL, all clothes are manufactured with just 15-20 pieces per batch.
