Grand Opening For Community Resource Centre

The new Community Resource Centre in Busselton was officially inaugurated last Thursday evening with an elegant sundowner held at the venue.

The news article “Community Resource Centre grand opening” has full details on the story. It says, “Mayor Ian Stubbs unveiled a plaque to commemorate the event and welcomed the community organisations that make up the inaugural group of tenants, calling the building a great addition to the City of Busselton.”

Speaking of the facility, Mayor Stubbs further said, “It is architecturally stunning, it is highly functional, it is environmentally friendly and perhaps, most importantly, it is welcoming.”

“As wonderful as this building is, it is the people who occupy it, and the human interaction that takes place within its walls that brings it to life,” he added.

The mayor also expressed gratitude to Lotterywest for the financial assistance that made the Community Resource Centre possible, donating $4.5mn in two years for the project.

The new facility will house the administration centres for up to 10 not-for-profit and charitable organisations including Citizens Advice Bureau, Southern Rip, Busselton Dunsborough Historians Group, YMCA and Activ Foundation.

Visitors who attended the inauguration were introduced to the range of services offered by the Community Resource Centre. They were also taken on a guided tour of the much talked about building to gain an insight into its design elements such as the water-wise garden, decorative etchings, grey-water recycling system and the use of panels and sunshades to regulate lighting and temperature.

There were loads of informative and colourful displays and give-a-ways on offer.

Representatives of Busselton Dunsborough Environment Centre, Activ Foundation, Busselton Family History Society, Citizens Advice Bureau, Southern Rip, Regional Kids, Small Business Centre South West and YMCA were also present on the occasion to meet with visitors and talk about programs.
