Be Astounded And Amazed By Wildflowers

All nature lovers are invited to be mesmerised by wildflowers at the Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show 2013 taking place in the Shire of Ravensthorpe from Saturday, September 07th to Tuesday, September 17th. This is your chance to come along and enjoy the spring splendour of the Ravensthorpe Range, the splendid Hopetoun Coast and the Frank Hann and Fitzgerald River National Parks.

The article “Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show” has full details on this event. It says, “Over the last 30 years the Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show has developed into one of the best shows in Western Australia. Possibly the largest number in the world of different species of named wildflowers are displayed, collected from one of the world’s richest biodiversity areas.” http://www.wildflowersravensthorpe.org.au/

Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show is recognised globally as one of the finest that Australia has to offer. Flowers are picked in the peak season from areas within the Shire of Ravensthorpe that covers an area of 12872 sq km. The shire is home to around 2,000 different varieties of wildflowers. As many as 700 species are exhibited at the show and identified with both their common and scientific names. Visitors are allowed to take photos.

Devonshire teas are available at the Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show and the wildflower shop has a colourful range of books, crafts, garments and maps for wildflower walks and drives. Guided Walks and 4WD Tag Along Tours are also available.

All proceeds from the Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show will go to partner organisations that help in putting together the event, the Ravensthorpe Historical Society and the Senior Citizens Society.

An important goal of the Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show is to promote Ravensthorpe as an eco-tourism destination. The event draws a large number of tourists each year. These include interstate visitors as well as people from New Zealand, Britain, Europe and the United States. Most tourists arrive via one of the 16 WA or interstate coach companies that offer a stopover in Ravensthorpe as part of their wildflower tours.

So, if you want to view a dazzlingly rich collection of wildflowers in a wonderful setting, make sure not to miss the Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show. For nature lovers visiting the shire in September, this is a must-see show. The event will be held at Ravensthorpe Senior Citizens Centre, Morgans Street, from 9am to 4pm every day. Admission is $4 for adults, kids are free.
