Now beginning a “New Life On The Road” is something that many have thought about but few seldom do. I would like to introduce you to Lisa and David Wood with their five children.
They have chosen to start a new life on the road with a 1975 Beford bus, converted into a holiday home which needs some upgrading. Thankfully David is a very capable man having fitted out many boats and done plenty of cabinet making. There plan is to tour around Australia with the whole family, leaving at the end of 2010/ early 2011. Naturally Margaret River is on their radar to enjoy some of the fine wine, food and surf, and with plenty of Margaret River caravan parks to choose from they are sure to be able to stop over for a while.
What Lisa and David have done is they have asked friends to come up with a name for their bus, getting us all involved in their New Life On The Road. I have a couple of ideas. You know when you are expecting your first child and you have no idea of if it is a boy or a girl? Well I have taken this to the bus too. I have a name for each ready but I think I need to see the child first or bus in this case.
The two names I have are:
Boy: Harrison – Getting to Harrison from Harrison Ford and linking this to Bed-ford (the make of bus)
Girl: Bertha – From a children’s program when I was wee in Scotland, where the train (I think) was called Bertha and just kept on reliably chuging a long.
Harrison or Bertha
I feel both Harrison and Bertha are fitting but I look at them differently. Lisa and David, if you are thinking of an adventure I would go with Harrison as Indiana Jones was always going weird and wonderful places and I bet he had some stories to tell. Where as Bertha is calm, reliable and will always get you there without any trouble.
I wish David, Lisa and family all the best with your New Life On The Road and if you want to follow their journey or want to find out if you have what it takes to go for it also, follow the link.
If you have any ideas of your own please leave them below as David and Lisa will be stopping by to see what we have come up with. I look forward to seeing them again when they visit Margaret River Caravan Parks with Harrison or is it Bertha!
