As suggested by its name, the Publican Band consisting of Brad Martin (vocals/guitar), Liam Flanders (drums) and Spencer Cowan (bass) has a background in the pub world and was founded following a lock-in at the Carlton North pub Sippers, which was then owned by Brad. Brad and Flanders were old school buddies who reconnected recently whereas Spencer was a much admired bar fly living just around the corner but hailing from Canada. Brad told the guys a tale for a song idea and the guys replied yeah let us compose the music to give life to the tale. Consequently, the Publican Band came into being.

Today, The Publican Band is known as one of the most gifted roots, blues, rock “n” roll bands from Melbourne, a jibe at other songwriters and bands who invent tales for their songs. The Publicans rely on true, real stories for their songs and all songs are written from the perspective of an individual involved.

The Publican Band will grace Settlers Tavern in Margaret River on May 03^rd. If you want to catch these guys perform live, make sure you don’t miss this event.
