Busselton Jetty Swim

Busselton Jetty Swim

If you’re interested in taking on the fun physical challenge of swimming around the Busselton Jetty, the longest wooden jetty in the southern hemisphere, then you should participate in the Busselton Jetty Swim.

History of the Event

The Busselton Jetty Swim has become a tradition since the first swim held in Febraury 1996. Max Higgins proposed this idea, which was organized by the Busselton Triathlon Club at the time. Since then, different organisations, such as the Busselton branch of the St. John Ambulance Association and Busselton Surf Life Saving Clubs have taken part to provide their services and help in ensuring participants of a good time.

The 2011 Busselton Jetty Swim 3.6km

Three races will be held on the 6th February – the individual swimmers race, the two-person team race, and the four-person team race. Individual swimmers will swim from the east to the west of the beach. The two-person team will have one swimmer swim from the east of the beach to Allie’s Landing, whereas the other swimmer will swim from Allie’s Landing to the west of the beach.

As for the four person team, one swimmer will swim from the east of the beach to the east of the Jetty Platform, the second between the east of the Jetty Platform to Allie’s Landing, the third between Allie’s Landing and the west of the Jetty Platform, and the last swimmer will wade from the west of Jetty’s Platform to the west of the beach.

If you’re a good swimmer and want to have some fun this February, make sure to join the fun and frolic in the Busselton Jetty Swim.
