The Margaret River Farmers Markets are fast becoming THE place to be every 2nd and 4th Saturday morning of the month. With the region now building a name for itself as the gourmet capital of Western Australia, the markets area a fabulous showcase of local fresh food ranging from:
- Fresh fruit and vegetables
- Ice cream
- Lamb, beef, goat and pork (pork is a new addition to the Margaret River farmers markets)
- Baked goods
- Wine from Margaret River wine producers
- Olive oil and dukkah mixes.
All stallholders must be personally involved in the production of the food they sell which means it is local people selling local foods and getting a chance to make money within the local community. As the tourism influx to the region continues to grow, it is also the perfect way to show off the Margaret River’s superb produce to visitors from all over Australia and the world.
The local organic produce is growing from strength to strength and now all the organic produce offered at the markets being certified. Be sure to try out the organic lamb, sheep’s cheese and olive oil.
One of the highlights of the Margaret River Farmers Markets is the breakfast bar which is always the social hub of the market. The breakfast bar offers:
- locally roasted Yahava coffee,
- fresh juices
- burgers and
- homemade cakes and is run by local community groups as a fundraising activity.
So if you would like to interact directly with the farmers and producers, be sure of where your food is coming from and support the local community at the same time, there is no better place to be than the Margaret River Farmers Markets.
When: Every 2nd and 4th Saturday 8am – 12pm, and only 4th Saturday in June, July and August.
