Goanna Cafe and Gallery Review

Nestled amidst some of the finest wildlife and native bush offered by the South West WA, Goanna Café and Gallery is a must-visit place for both locals and tourists alike. This unique establishment offers a one-of-a-kind experience only a short distance by car from Dunsborough. Goanna Café boasts a fantastic menu and the onsite gallery provides guests with a chance to browse through a fine variety of artwork and gifts. There is something for people of all ages, tastes and backgrounds at this marvelous place.

At Goanna Café, head chef and owner Duncan and wife Alison are delighted to welcome guests to enjoy lunch or breakfast or relax with tea, coffee and Alison’s home baked cakes. They strive to serve honest, simple food sourced from high quality suppliers and producers both local and across WA. Goanna Café is a family friendly establishment with a superb kids menu. Parents can relax and unwind whilst the little ones run around the sandpit area or the sculpture walk in the beautiful bush. Not only does this wonderful setting appeals to kids but adults can also soak in the natural surroundings before or after their meal.

Hearty soups, delicious and unique taste plates and the popular fillet steak sandwiches are amongst a range of delights included on Goanna Café’s lunch menu. On Sunday mornings, this is the only place open for breakfast. It doesn’t always have to be simple eggs and bacon for breakfast (though that is available too). You should try out one of the gourmet alternatives; fried egg and spicy Indo rice with pesto and spinach or Spanish chorizo together with potato…just amazing.

Goanna Café allows BYO wine from the neighbouring wineries including Wulura, Happs and Mongrel Creek, all within five kilometres. The friendly and knowledgeable staff will be more than willing and happy to make any recommendations. Goanna Café is a completely non smoking establishment. It welcomes well-behaved dogs.

Goanna Gallery Shop boasts a unique variety of gift items that include local artwork, pressed tin and cast iron products, scenic photos, organic baby products and Corryne’s natural products. Home wares, jewellery and scarves are a few of the numerous gifts and treasures to be found that will surely appeal to all shoppers.

In a nutshell, Goanna Café and Gallery is a place worth visiting in the South West. You are definitely going to love the amazing food and exciting gift items that this place has to offer.

The Margaret River Guide Review

The Goanna Cafe and Gallery is a hidden gem near Dunsborough, somewhere you might not find if you were not told about it. The gallery is small but has an huge amount of very personal gifts for family and friends.
Duncan and Ali Timmons run the Cafe side of the business and have come a long way, from Scotland, to put their heart and soul into a place like Goanna. The food is really good with something for everyone on the menu, kids included. The menu is far bigger than I was expecting from a small locally run cafe, my favourite is the steak sandwich which was brilliant. The cafe is BYO for alcoholic drinks but with Mongrel Creek, Wulura and Happs wineries just around the corner you can pick up the prefect bottle to enjoy with your meal.
I think Goanna Cafe is ideal if you want to go somewhere with bucket loads of charm, great food a good atmosphere and it is definitely somewhere the whole family can relax. Follow this link to read a full menu or contact Goanna Cafe and Gallery.

About Benji

I am married and live on a farm near Margaret River with my wife, daughter and son. I set up The Margaret River Guide to assist people coming to Margaret River Western Australia to easily find what they are looking for. I also wanted to allow people to find activities they did not know about and to be able to openly comment on/ review businesses.

We loved our lunch at Goanna Cafe. It is a unique relaxing experience and is surrounded by natural bush and wildflowers; the day we were there the sun was filtering down through the eucalypts and the tall grass trees. Service was friendly and after ordering we wandered around the pretty gallery and browsed the goodies, all of which were very reasonably priced.

Lunch arrived all too soon, and we were impressed at the presentation and quality of the food, which was restaurant standard in a relaxed cafe setting. Duncan’s passion and attention to detail were in evidence at very reasonable prices – I chose the delicious tasting plate, and my husband had the special, which was a splendid lamb curry with trimmings. And our byo wine was opened and glasses supplied at no charge, which is very unusual these days.

For afters we tried the mouthwatering home baked tarts and cakes served with first class coffee.

All in all a lovely experience and we can’t recommend Goanna highly enough.
